This Chrysanthemum Stone from the Hunan Province in China is naturally occurring and thought to be from the Permian Age (approx 250 million years). As the name implies, it is shaped like a chrysanthemum, the official symbol of the Imperial Family of China. The"flowers" are embedded in dark grey limestone with celestite and calcite constituting the"petals" and chert the"stamen and pistil". This specimen was collected from the riverbed of the Yangtze River.
Measures 12.0" x 7.0" x 3.5" (including base). Weight 12.25 lbs.
